Cochimart

About Cochimart

Cochimart is a Kerala grocery and ingredient guide. The name comes from Kochi (Cochin), the old spice port, and from the market stalls where most of us first learned what things are called. The domain was once a generic online-store template; in October 2026 we rebuilt it as a free reference with no shop and nothing for sale.

What you will find here

  • Ingredient names in English and Malayalam, with Malayalam script and an easy pronunciation.
  • A season calendar for Kerala fruits and vegetables.
  • A grocery list maker that writes your list in English, Malayalam or both.
  • Guides to Kerala varieties and to choosing and storing ingredients.

Who writes it

Pages are written and maintained by the Cochimart Kitchen Desk, a small team of writers and editors who cook and shop in Kerala.

Our standards

  • Checked names. Every name is checked against a Malayalam dictionary and against everyday usage in Ernakulam markets. Where districts use different words, we list the alternatives.
  • Named references. Seasons and food-handling advice come from Kerala Agricultural University, the state agriculture and fisheries bodies, ICAR research institutes and national food-safety guidance, linked on each page.
  • No market rates and no selling. Market rates change daily and differ by town, so we do not publish them. We do not sell products, list shops or take paid placements.
  • No health claims. We describe ingredients as food. For diet or medical questions, please ask a qualified professional.

Corrections

If a name is different where you live, or something is wrong, please tell us at hello@cochimart.in with the page address. We correct errors promptly.

Advertising

Cochimart is free to use. We do not show advertising or take paid placements at the moment. If we add display ads in future, this page and our privacy policy will say so first, and advertisers will have no say over what we write.
